About me
I graduated from Cambridge University with a first in English Literature and went on to do a Masters in Creative Writing at UEA. After finishing this, I did some voluntary work and helped run a support group for parents aged under 25 before going to work for the Victorian Society. There, I organised an East End funeral for a condemned primary school, declared Waltham Forest Town Hall a heritage crime scene, and made my boss swim more than 22 miles, all in the name of saving old buildings.
Alongside my Victorian Society work, I was Fiction Editor for the roundtable review, an arts e-zine showcasing work by young artists. As well as writing Breathless, I have written sketches for News Revue and The Treason Show, and two full length stage adaptations for the Choir of Hendon St Mary's. Last year I won the Comedy Toboggan Ten in a Bed Theatre Sketch Writing competition. I've also produced articles for publications including The Weekend Australian Magazine and Period Ideas.
After leaving the Victorian Society, I completed a course in sub-editing at the London College of Communication and am now a full-time writer and freelance sub. In October 2008, I was appointed UK Website Editor of readme.cc, the European Virtual Library, for which I've been reviewing for several years. Alongside this, I work as a freelance choral singer and soloist, appearing regularly as part of a professional octet at St Columba's Church in Knightsbridge. Recent recordings include Making Waves, a CD of music for women's voices by Bob Chilcott and Christmas Choral Highlights for Oxford University Press.
